james and i went on a shopping extravaganza today. itaewon and myeongdong. in a blizzard. here i am, being “unhappy with my life” as we waited for the bus home that NEVER CAME. we ended up catching the sub instead, and standing for the majority of the hour long trip home with 3 transfers. that dang bus better have been stuck in some snow on the highway or something…
on christmas eve, sarita, natalie and i accidentally ended up in the basement of this bar, at an underground indie show. it was probably the best thing i’ve done since i moved here. i finally found where the good music has been hiding. PTL.
it’s 4am in korea. this christmas was lovely, and anything but lonely. i opened presents from my family, cleaned my apartment, and got ready to the sounds of elf playing on my laptop. i had a great little friendly conversation in the elevator with a cute korean guy who turned out to be my neighbor. my apartment was filled with people and food and wine all evening long. after the masses left, i relaxed with a movie, followed by a late night snack at our usual seolleong-tang place. i skyped with beth and got to say hi to her great family. then, i ended the night with a skype call to my mom’s side of the family, complete with a casual rendition of “we wish you a merry christmas” in four parts with my uncle on the violin. hilarious, and so great. christmas in korea was definitely not so bad.
you’ve still got half the day left. enjoy the rest of christmas, kiddies!
